Romsey Community Lantern Project

Bringing visual arts and practical skills to the community

The 2019 Romsey Lantern Parade will be on Friday 6 December

If you are interested in taking part in this wonderful event on the evening of the late night shopping in Romsey (which is organised by Romsey Chamber of Commerce) please read on.

We are also seeking volunteers to help us.

We are inviting residents to make their lanterns at home this year and join the parade: see below

Romsey’s residents are invited to make a lantern and join schools, community and disability groups for the eighth Romsey Lantern Parade on Friday 6th December

This year we are enabling residents to make a lantern at home and join the parade. We will provide a kit of the essentials to make a lantern for £5.

This will include willow, PVA glue, wet strength tissue, cane, torch, cable ties. You will need to provide masking tape, clear tape, cling film and decorating materials.

Lantern making instructions are available; please email for a copy (I am having difficulty getting the file on the website at the moment).

The theme for the 2019 Parade is: story telling / literature, for instance characters from books. Open to your imagination!

The maximum number of public lanterns will be 100, strictly on a first come first served basis.

Committee members will be available at the following places and times:

Saturday 19 October, Romsey Market Place for information and advice 09:00 - 13:00

Thursday 24 October, Romsey Library to buy lantern kits and for advice 09:00 - 13:00
